Employment and Disability Service (EADS)
We exist to support people with a physical, sensory, mental health or learning disability move toward, gain and sustain paid employment through tailored support.
- You will be expected to do a least 8-16 hours each week of job search activity and will be required to meet with your Employment Development Officer at least fortnightly to discuss their progress, objectives and to update their individual action plan.
- Work placements are often undertaken as part of these supported employment programmes and will require additional commitment in terms of client hours.
Eligibility
To access our support you do not need to be in receipt of any benefits. To qualify you must require support due to a disability or health condition to gain and / or sustain paid employment of 16 hours+

Participants must be 17 – 24 and self-identify as having a common mental health problem, or suffer with social isolation. We take a broad definition of isolation to mean more than just lack of contact with others. We understand that some people can feel isolated even when they have daily contact with other people.

Kettering Mind
We are Kettering Mind, your local mental health charity. We are a registered charity affiliated to National Mind who are dedicated to supporting and empowering anyone experiencing a mental health problem, through a wide variety of services.
Drop in and visit us –
- Our Mixing Bowl Information and Refreshment Centre is a place where you can obtain information and support on mental health and wellbeing. If you need a chat or would like some information our staff are available 12pm-1pm. It also serves light refreshments.
- Crisis Cafés are available for anyone 18 years old or over in need who are finding themselves in a crisis or need support with their mental health. The cafes are facilitated by an NHFT mental health professional and Kettering Mind support workers. The Cafes provide support and safety to anyone, by offering coping mechanisms and management techniques to help reduce the risk of crisis. As well as offering support, professionals can also refer and direct you to further services if required. There is no need to call and book an appointment, simply drop in.

Supports people with Mental Health and Physical Disabilities to work through barriers to employment and continue to support for the first 2 years of employment
- Remploy works on the DWP program called Work Choice and Specialist Employment Services
- Use community’s services to help with customers’ barriers whatever they may be (ranging from confidence to addiction)
- Partner with disability confident employers. Although we are not a recruitment agency, most of the jobs we have are entry level.
- In Work Support Advisors work with customer and employer to ensure a correct approach to being brought into the business and an employer confident their new employee’s abilities as well as managing the new employee and their needs/adjustments

The Lowdown
Free & Confidential Counselling, information, mental health and sexual health support services for young people, 6 days per week at The Lowdown, Northampton, NN1 1PP.
- Counselling & Support: Any issue including self harm, bereavement, stress and anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, depression, drugs & alcohol, sexual health, relationships, etc
- Nurse Service: On-going & emergency contraceptive pill, consultations for implant/LARCs etc, well-mens health check, STD checks
- Sexual Health Service: Condoms, c-card, STD screening, pregnancy testing, lube, sexual health and relationships information and support
- LGBTQ Services: Youth support groups, Helpline, Educational/fun activities
- School Based Services: 1:1 counselling in schools and colleges as well as presentations and awareness talks in assemblies.

- Our weekly Out There LGBTQ group is for 14-18 year olds

Free and confidential service for victims, witnesses or anyone affected by crime living in Northamptonshire including:
- Victims and witnesses (adults)
- Children and young people (specialist therapeutic services)
Individuals do not have to report the crime to receive support. Our support can be emotional or practical. It is available to anyone suffering from any type of crime (including domestic abuse, historical crimes, sexual violence), no matter when and where the crime took place. Support can be face-to-face or over the telephone.

Anyone living in Northamptonshire. Crime does not have to be reported.
