Bridge Substance Misuse Programme
Providing activities, support and housing for people with drugs or alcohol.
Bridge is a peer support project which links volunteers who have recovered from alcohol and/or drug misuse with members with serious substance misuse problems. There are recovery workers who work with members to sustain their recovery and staff who specialise in advice and guidance on benefits, housing and employment.
Eligibility
Had or have a drugs or alcohol problem. Age 18 and above

Care & Repair Northamptonshire
Provides a range of measures for vulnerable householders, regardless of tenure of property, including:
- Handyman, small plumbing works, home security works, keysafes
- Domestic abuse measures including specialist sanctuary rooms
- Minor adaptations and falls prevention, including grab rails and ramps
- Child home safety measures including
- Warm at Home service (inc repairs, draught exclusion, secondary glazing)
- Garden clearance and fencing, removal of unwanted household items
All technicians are employed by us, are DBS checked, wear uniform, carry ID and drive company vans. We do not charge for assessments of work and customers are provided with a written quotation to accept prior to work commencing. We are registered with Trading Standards.
- Charge – subsidised rate of £15.00 ph plus VAT and cost of materials
- Hardship Fund – for those most in need to fund essential works.
- Warm at Home Service – FREE of charge to those eligible
- Child Home Safety project – FREE of charge to those eligible
- We also carry out works on behalf of partners across the county where other charges apply
Eligibility
Any one of the following:
- Age (50+)
- Disability or long-term conditions
- Low income (in receipt of means tested benefits)
- Other vulnerable due to being a victim/living in fear of crime
- Families with young children * (additional eligibility may be required for some services)

Community Support Services (KCU)
- Free training and education courses: A wide range of accredited and non-accredited courses to support people into employment or just to improve their quality of life.
- Furniture Re-cycling Charity shop (Newland St): In partnership with Kettering Borough council, and many other agencies and businesses, providing low-cost furniture and household goods to those in need.
- Foodbank services: Providing food parcels to fourteen different partners who are authorised to issue food to those in need.

Education courses are free to those on benefits.
All other KCU services are available to anyone who needs them

Eligibility

Participants must be 17 – 24 and self-identify as having a common mental health problem, or suffer with social isolation. We take a broad definition of isolation to mean more than just lack of contact with others. We understand that some people can feel isolated even when they have daily contact with other people.

However, we can be flexible with meeting times and sessions.

Kettering Foodbank

Kettering Foodbank
Based at the Praise Community Church, 3 Alexandra St, Kettering
- The foodbank helps those in food poverty, overcome a short-term crisis.
- We provide tinned and dried food sufficient for three days, together with bread, fresh fruit and vegetables when available.
- We try to sign post individuals to agencies that may be able to assist with any additional needs.
Eligibility
Every prospective client is interviewed to establish his or her situation and where possible supporting evidence maybe required. Many clients are referred by recognised agencies who are already helping individuals overcome their crisis. We aim to help wherever possible, however we do limit parcels to three in any six-month period.

The National Centre for Domestic Violence
- Free, fast and confidential legal injunction service targeted at the rapid relief of domestic violence and abuse.
- Tell us your story and we will advise as to the range of remedies available (most of which will be part of the Family Law Act 1996)
- We can help you obtain an injunction, which is a court order that prohibits an abuser from using or threatening violence against you, harassing, pestering or intimidating you and in some cases contacting you altogether.
- Whilst we only specialise with injunctions we work very closely with other organisations that can help you with any emotional support or practical solutions you may need.

Support for tenants who are experiencing difficulties within their private rented home including issues with setting up a new accommodation, dealing with domestic utilities, benefits.

Referrals can be made by the tenant, their landlord or management agent, or other supporting agencies, providing the tenant agrees.
Further Information
- An appointment will be arranged which will include an introduction to the service and to determine how the support can be offered to a tenant.
- Appointments thereafter will be arranged either at the tenant’s home address or at the council offices, depending on the circumstances.
- The service offers a friendly and direct approach helping tenants to achieve sustainment of a tenancy and the confidence to be independent in the future.

The ManKind Initiative
The ManKind Initiative is a national charity (registered in 2001) providing an information, support and signposting service to male victims of domestic abuse and their families.
The helpline is manned by trained people who give information and support on all aspects of domestic abuse. They refer people to refuges, local authorities and other support services where appropriate.
Eligibility
There is no eligibility criteria, anyone is welcome to call the helpline. In addition to male victims, we receive calls from concerned friends and family members.
